The Importance of Proper Cleaning Evaluations
Getting a price quote and evaluation helps set the floor for both parties. Before any cleaning, the cleaner needs to evaluate the areas being cleaned to know what’s going on and what they need to handle the situation. If you ever call us for cleaning and ask for pricing, we will ask a series of questions to let us know what is going on with your carpet, tile, or furniture.
After we get a better understanding of your situation it’s easier to provide a more accurate estimate for cleaning. Above all, the proper way to evaluate for cleaning is in person, on site. This is why all of our prices over the phone are just estimates. We need to know what’s happening before putting an exact price on it. So having us out for an exact price quote
Our cleaning estimates for flooring always starts with a walk through to identify liquid spill spots, pet urine, take measurements, take note of existing damages, evaluate expectations, and learn what is important to the client.
We will always say over the phone that “Pet stains are something we have to see in person to evaluate before providing any kind of estimate.” This is because in nearly every case, we find more than meets the eye. Using a powerful UV flashlight we are able to identify urine areas that are not visible to the naked eye. At that point we can see and evaluate what’s really going on. Sometimes these situations are out of our range and that’s important to know because we don’t want you paying for something and getting far less. Getting a price quote over the phone for these situations may turn out to be deceiving. That’s why we don’t do it.
When dealing with spots, knowing if a spot is from a liquid spill can be important to making sure it doesn’t come back. Spill spots exist far beneath the surface and because of that, we as cleaners need to take the proper precautions to prevent that spot from returning. Neglecting this important step in evaluation is the biggest reason you may have “returning spots”.
During our price quote, taking note of existing damages and getting dimensional measurements is important for fair pricing and to prevent more damage. Any runs in the carpet or cracked grout or tiles increase the chance of damage occurring during our cleaning process. Identifying those areas means that we have a mental note that says “Be careful around this.”
We have a wonderful reputation for great cleaning and try to maintain that with every job. Unfortunately some situations can not be handled by restoration cleaning. More often though, a great cleaning will not result in NEW looking surfaces. The up-side is that you carpet, tile, or furniture will look a LOT better, be very clean, and smell better. Setting expectations for our cleaning results in important to us because we don’t ever want to disappoint our clients.
