How to Write a Review on Google Maps via Your Phone or Tablet

You search google and you see business listings with reviews written on them. Now you make a phone call for service based on some reviews and ratings you just read. Soon you will have written one of those reviews and people will be reading what you wrote.

The process of writing a review has been made much more simple now with so many handheld devices. Up until about 2015 you had to go to an actual computer to write reviews on google maps. Now you can do it directly from your smart phone, tablet, and maybe even your watch. Continue reading →

How to Treat Urine Spots on Carpet in Your Home

Treating Urine Spots on Your Carpet

What spotters are you using on your carpet? Don’t you want to know what works and have a better idea of how to properly spot treat your carpet? Hopefully you will find the information here useful in keeping your carpet spot free and at its finest for as long as possible.

Urine Stain Spotter

Proven Urine Spotter

Many times I find clientele who use spotters that don’t work or that damage the carpet. Sometimes after a professional carpet cleaning the treated spots seem to become white spots as if they have been bleached. This product neutralizes the odor causing bacteria that urine produces. This product also gets rid of the yellowing caused by urine. Though it is designed for clothing, it has multiple uses. Now of course every carpet pile is different so make sure to test any product you decide to use. Simply apply the product into the back of a closet or another area that won’t be seen or noticed. Give it a few days and if possible use a spot bot or similar machine to rinse the area. Though if you don’t have a spot bot, a wet white towel rubbed onto the area to check for color transfer will suffice. If you have an effective spotter you like to use that really works, share it with us on here. https://www.facebook.com/SpotlessFlooring/

In many cases such as the one pictured below, severe spotting and/or urine damage has caused the carpet to delaminate. This means that the soft carpet is separating from its supportive backing. Delamination is caused by products that deteriorate the glue between the carpet tufts and backing. Some products may do it after only one application though most of the time it occurs after multiple applications. Once the carpet has reached this point, it needs to be replaced.

carpet delamination

Carpet Delamination – damage to the carpet usually caused by overexposure to concentrated chemicals resulting in the carpet backing separating from the carpet tufts

Don’ts: No worries if you regularly spot treat your carpet and have concerns of delamination just be careful. We recommend you avoid pouring any sort of product onto your carpet for any reason. Not only will it take a long time to dry but it will fully saturate your carpet providing much more opportunity and time for damage to occur. Though it may seem useful for getting rid of large spots, your better off calling a professional.

Dos: In the case of treating your carpet, use a squirt bottle to apply cleaning products and avoid overuse.

How Spotless Flooring recommends using spotters and cleaners on your carpet.

After you have picked out your spotter we recommend you test it in an area that won’t be noticed or seen. Or if you have any extra carpet from the installation, using that for testing. Testing should be completed as though you are going to treat any other spot.

What you will need: Bissel Spotbot or similar wet carpet cleaning tool or a squirt bottle of water and a wet/dry vac, your spotter, a dry white towel, small fan

  1. Spray your spotter onto the area that needs to be treat or cleaned. Just a few squirts is usually enough.
  2. Using a small portion of your towel, lightly scrub or agitate the treated area.
  3. Allow 20-30 minutes for the product to dwell.
  4. Now thoroughly rinse your treated area using your spot bot and hot water. Alternatively using a squirt bottle and wet/dry vac is suitable. Go over the area a few extra times with just the vacuum to ensure drying.
  5. Lay the white towel over the area and apply pressure to it. Let this sit for about 5 minutes to absorb any extra moisture.
  6. Finally apply your fan to the area until it is dry.

*For urine spots – Prior to treatment, absorb as much moisture as possible with a towel by applying the towel to the area and pressing firmly. Follow the steps above but in step 3 instead of allowing 20-30 minute dwell time, allow a full day for the area to completely dry. Mark the spot with a coin, poker chip, or something similar so you don’t forget where it was. The next day continue with step four through six.
